Kirk Schooley, PGA, is a highly decorated golf professional and the long-time Head PGA Professional at Juniper Hill Golf Course in Frankfort, Kentucky. Since taking the helm in 2004, he has become a cornerstone of the Kentucky golf community, known for his “keep it simple” teaching philosophy and his dedication to growing the game through programs like PGA HOPE for veterans.
- Competitive Success: A standout player since his college days at Ball State University (where he is a Hall of Fame inductee), Schooley is a four-time Kentucky PGA Player of the Year. Most recently, he clinched the 2023 Kentucky Senior PGA Professional Championship with a dramatic chip-in birdie on the final hole [1, 2].
- Leadership & Service: Beyond the course, he served nearly a decade on the Kentucky PGA Board of Directors and acted as the section’s Tournament Chairman. His previous tenure includes 14 years as the Head Professional and Superintendent at Mt. Sterling Country Club.
- Resilience: In 2019, he was honored with the Deacon Palmer Award, recognizing his ability to maintain a high-standard golf operation while overcoming significant personal health challenges [3].
Today, Kirk continues to offer customized instruction at Juniper Hill, focusing on helping golfers of all skill levels improve their “on-course” play rather than just their swing mechanics. Schooley is known for a “simple” instructional philosophy, focusing on teaching students how to play the game effectively rather than just focusing on the mechanics of the swing.
